Hiscock--Elaine M. went to be with her Lord when she passed away in Jacksonville, Florida, on September 24, at age 86.
She was born in the Boston area, to Samuel and Ursula Clarke, both of whom emigrated from Newfoundland during the great depression.
She married the love of her life, Phil, when she was only 18. When asked how she knew he was “the one” she said that she never got bored when she was with him! They celebrated their 67th anniversary this year.
Her outstanding abilities to keep people and things organized continued throughout her life, organizing family and home through multiple moves around the US and abroad, wherever Phil’s career would take them.
She loved all forms of sacred music, and was a beautiful soloist, pianist and organist throughout her life.
To her kids - Pam and John - and their friends, she was the neighborhood mom, opening her home and baking for all.
When John and his wife Susan had children - Samuel, Thomas, and Katherine - “Nana” poured love, prayer, gifts, and homemade baked goods into them. She was fiercely proud of each of them. When Samuel successfully battled cancer as a teen, no one prayed more or rallied more people to pray than Nana. She loved nothing more than being a grandmother.
When Pam and her husband Marshal adopted their 16-year-old daughter Jennifer, Elaine took Jenn under wing, giving her unconditional love, becoming “Nana” once again.
In June, Jenn and husband Dan made Elaine a great-grandmother with the birth of their first child. Elaine loved to see the photos of her “so cute” great-grandson.
Elaine’s family includes her husband of 67 years Philip J., daughter Pam Braman and husband Marshal of Rochester, NY, and John Clarke and wife Susan of Mooresville, NC. She has four grandchildren, Samuel, Katherine and Thomas Clarke, Jennifer Anang LaFave and husband Daniel, and a great-grandson, Regulus Emmanuel LaFave. She is also survived by her brother, Donald R. Clarke and sister-in-law Kathy of Waquoit, MA and brother-in-law Charles G. Hiscock (whose wife Patricia is deceased,) of Woodridge, IL. She was predeceased by her brother Roy H. Clarke of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. and brother-in-law Ronald G. Hiscock (Beverly) of Chester Springs, PA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 3rd, at Church of Our Savior, 2092 Beach Boulevard. “For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. - 1 Corinthians 13:12
