Edythe “Ede” Bantz passed away on May 24th, 2021 after a long illness. She had been a resident at The Windsor at San Pablo in Jacksonville, FL, since moving from Transylvania County in 2016 to be closer to family. Ede was proud of her NC roots, having been born in Asheville, NC in 1937. Ede ran the Hogback Lamp store during the 1980s and 1990s. After making their home in Pisgah Forest at Glen Cannon Country Club in the 1990s, she enjoyed playing golf and spending time with her many close friends. She adored nature and devoted herself to the many fortunate pets that found their home with her.
She is preceded in death by her husband J. David Bantz; sister Betty Riley, parents Marie Stolz Rodgers and William S. Rodgers. She is survived by stepdaughter Kathleen Spencer (Dave), and granddaughters Abby and Rebecca Spencer.
