Eddy Marion
Foye, Sr
Jan 28, 1946 — Jul 8, 2026
Eddy M. Foye, Sr., a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Jacksonville on January 28, 1946, and spent his life serving God, his family, and his community with unwavering faith, integrity, and compassion.
A proud graduate of Andrew Jackson High School's Class of 1964, Eddy formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. He briefly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve beginning in 1965 before marrying his beloved Jean in 1967. Soon afterward, he answered another calling by joining the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
For nearly thirty years, Eddy faithfully served the citizens of Jacksonville as a firefighter, eventually retiring as a Lieutenant. He loved every aspect of his work, but what meant the most to him was helping others. Whether responding to emergencies or quietly lending a hand to someone in need, serving others was never simply his profession, it was his way of life.
More than anything else, Eddy was a man whose life was anchored in his Christian faith. Scripture guided every decision he made and every challenge he encountered. He believed deeply in the promise of salvation and found great joy in sharing the hope of Christ with those around him, especially his family. Though not formally trained in ministry, his extensive Christian library reflected a lifelong pursuit of God's Word and a desire to continually grow in his faith. His quiet witness, steadfast character, and genuine love for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Those who knew Eddy remember a man of exceptional integrity, generosity, and patience. He possessed an unmatched work ethic and, together with Jean, instilled those same values in their children. He was fiercely independent, impeccably dressed, rarely seen without his signature khakis and a crisp shirt, and blessed with a quick wit that could brighten any room. His one-liners and infectious sense of humor became one of the many gifts he shared with family and friends.
What made Eddy happiest and what he considered his greatest accomplishment were his grandchildren. Although he deeply loved his children, becoming a grandfather brought him immeasurable joy. He was present for every milestone he could manage, faithfully attending sporting events, celebrations, and life's everyday moments. His greatest satisfaction came not from accolades or accomplishments, but from investing his time and love in those he cherished most.
When asked about his hobbies, his family agrees, "Jean." Theirs was a marriage marked by unwavering love, devotion, laughter, and partnership. They truly enjoyed spending life together. Beyond that, helping others remained his greatest passion. He never looked for recognition, he simply saw a need and did what he could to meet it.
Eddy's legacy is one of unwavering faith, selfless service, quiet strength, generous love, and steadfast devotion to God and family. His example will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Eddy leaves behind the love of his life and devoted wife of nearly sixty years, Dorothy "Jean" Foye; his beloved daughter, Natalie (Mark) Williams; his son, Eddy M. (Monica) Foye, Jr.; and the grandchildren who brought him so much joy: Jenna and Peyton Williams, and Grayson and Jackson Foye. He also leaves behind lifelong treasured friends, and countless lives made better by his kindness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ruth Foye, and his four brothers and sisters.
A Memorial Service celebrating Eddy's life will be held at The Church of Eleven22. Service details are currently being finalized and will be announced once available.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care in Eddy's memory. They are deeply grateful for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care shown to Eddy and their entire family during this profound season of life.
