Dorothy Truax Archer, 91 of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, passed away on December 14. Originally from Akron, Ohio, Dorothy graduated from South High School and the University of Akron. After Earning a Bachelors degree in Education, she taught elementary school for 20 years. Dorothy was married to her high school sweetheart, Edward Archer, until his passing in 2009. Edward served in the United States Air Force and had a career in finance. They made several moves around the country with work, but they always considered Akron their home. After retirement, Dorothy and Ed moved to Ponte Vedra Beach to be near children and enjoy the warmer weather.
Surviving family members include children, Deborah Archer of Columbus, Ohio and Moira Catches (John) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Megan Dunton (Kristin), Kelly Kelley (Sean), Erik Sander (Mandy), Ryan Sander (Jess); great grandchildren, Brynnley and Easton; sisters-in-law, Joan Archer and June Truax and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Edward; son, Mark; parents, Clarence and Ruth Truax; brothers, Gene and Ralph Truax.
A graveside service will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Akron in the spring.
In her honor, memorial donations may be given to Ronald McDonald House and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
