Daniel Young

Daniel Sharp Young, 81, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Born on Feb. 28, 1944, in Swainsboro, Georgia, Dan lived an interesting life filled with travel, friends, and family.

Dan attended Dupont High School in Jacksonville and served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1972 with a B.A. in psychology. He went on to have a successful career with CSX Intermodal in Jacksonville. Dan enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. He also enjoyed games, such as chess and poker, and he loved to listen to music and was especially fond of Bob Dylan.

Dan is survived by his wife of 37 years, JoAnne Howell Young. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Clarice Makemson Moran, her husband Thomas George Moran, and their three children, Katherine Elizabeth Moran, Thomas Paul Moran, and Daniel Christopher Moran, all of North Carolina.
