Born on August 12, 1941, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Charles grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and then LSU (Louisiana State University). Over the course of his life and career, he lived in many cities—Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA; San Francisco, CA; Morristown, NJ—before ultimately retiring to the place he considered home, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
Charles enjoyed a long and successful career in the leasing industry, beginning with US Leasing and continuing with AT&T Capital. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to launch his own company, KVI (Kindcaid Van Sickle, Inc.) Capital. His work took him around the globe, and he embraced every opportunity to explore new places, meet new people, and share his zest for life.
A lover of fine wine, good cigars, and great company, Charles was known for his warmth, generosity, and quick wit. He was always happiest surrounded by friends and family, sharing stories and laughter.
He is survived by his family—Vicki Van Sickle (Suwanee, GA), Susan Strong and her husband Eric (Broomfield, CO), Scott Kinsey and his wife Jessica (Superior, CO)—and his beloved grandchildren: Jack (26), Mia (24), Charlotte (7), and Sophia (4).
Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and a life well lived. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local Special Olympics chapter.
