Carol Jean Phillips

Carol J. Phillips, 69, passed away September 23, 2023. She was born October 29, 1953, in Rochester, NY and grew up in neighboring towns. She retired to Florida where she was a resident for 16 years. 

During her youth, Carol was active in art class and ski club. She enjoyed marching band, especially twirling her baton. She graduated from Hilton Central High school.

Carol had many entrepreneurial endeavors during her life. Fresh out of high school, Carol opened a hair salon, Even Ends, with a friend. Following the success of the hair salon, she opened a tanning salon, Golden Tans. They were famous for their body wrapping selection, dubbed ‘Beach in a Box.’ Carol had a love for self-care and helping women achieve happiness with themselves. 

Later in life, Carol passionately served her community in the financial services industry. She had a heart for helping families achieve their financial independence leaving a lasting legacy for multiple families, including her own. Carol loved to travel and was always excited for her next adventure. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends on various outings around Jacksonville; she desired to be a true local and submersed herself in everything our beautiful city has to offer.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Spring Baird; son, R. Jeffrey Phillips; grandchildren, Priscilla, Charles, Allison, and Emily; and brothers Gregory Clyde and Thomas Clyde and their children. She was predeceased by her father Charles Clyde and mother Beverly Clyde. 

A viewing/visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the funeral service following at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday the 7th of October 2023 at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home. Flowers, in remembrance of Carol, may be sent to the above-named funeral home. 

A casting ceremony will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in the springtime; date and time to be determined.
