It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Carol Hartman Gist, who left us far too soon on October 9, 2024.
Carol spent her life-giving kindness and strength to all who knew her. She spent over 20 years as a Christ Church Episcopal Church as a preschool teacher and retired from Republic Services as a human resource representative in 2017. Carol was a woman who radiated warmth and compassion. She had a gentle spirit that could light up any room with her smile.
Above all, she was a devoted grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family was her world, and she took immense pride in the love and guidance she gave her daughter Christina. She was a devoted grandmother who cherished her grandsons deeply and was incredibly proud of each of them.
She approached every moment with dedication to those she loved and the world around her.
Proceeding her in death; Clyde and Joan (nee. Wilson) Hartman, Susan Putnam (nee. Hartman), and John R. Palffy (bother-in-law).
Carol is survived by Christina Jo Going (nee. Gist), Edward Going (son-in-law), her grandsons Charlie and Cameron, Frances Palffy (nee. Hartman), nieces Emily Henry (nee. Palffy), Susan Bailey Putman, nephews John Palffy III, Adam Palffy, and Matthew Palffy, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Her spirit, laughter, and warmth will live on in all of us fortunate enough to know her. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for the spring of 2025.
