Carol Roberta Carlson, OCDS, 87, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, previously from South Burlington, Vermont, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2021 at Baptist Medical Center – Beaches in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. She was born July 22, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA.
She is survived by Carl, her devoted husband of 63 years, her loving children, son Carl and wife Donna of Metairie, LA, daughter Ingrid and husband Steve of Neptune Beach, FL, daughter Karen and husband Benjamin of Burlington, VT and daughter Carol of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and daughter-in-law Joy. She was the beloved “Grandma” to her grandchildren and their spouses, Signe and Shawn, Brandye and Todd, Kyle and Emily, Abbie and Shawn, John and Sarah, Kelly and Jeff, Carl David and Jamie, Benjamin and Anna Lee, Kirsten, Rebecca and Serenity. She was also “Nana” to her great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Derrick, Trinity, Jarrett, Joslyn, Nikolaus, Andrew and Leo as well as her great-great-granddaughters, Aurora and Iris. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews and her brother-in-law Ward McMasters of Neshaminy, PA.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her 3 sisters and 2 brothers and her youngest son, Eric, who passed away in October 2020 from pancreatic cancer.
Carol was a longtime resident of South Burlington, VT until 2017, when she relocated with her husband to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. She was a treasured sister in the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites in Vermont and a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Burlington, VT. She loved to knit and crochet, watch her soap operas and laugh at the antics of her cat.
A Holy Mass of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Interment into the Columbarium at Our Lady Star of the Sea will take place at that time. A private reception will take place in the Community Center at the Church after the Mass.

We would also like to thank the amazing and compassionate Doctors, nurses and staff in the ICU at Beaches Hospital for their loving care offered while Carol was under their care. You all made an extremely difficult time in our lives more bearable by the many kindnesses you showed us and we are sincerely grateful. God Bless you all.
