Beverly Jean LaForty

Beverly Jean (Sawyer) LaForty, age 87, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026.

She was born in Watertown, NY on December 31, 1938. Beverly was a daughter to Mose and Emma Jane (Warren) Sawyer. She attended General Brown Central School.

Beverly married George C. LaForty on April 27, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Watertown, NY. The family relocated to Mayport, Florida in 1967.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, George LaForty. Beverly devoted her life to being a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to, sons: Dennis (and Dianne) and Anthony Wayne; daughters: Nancy Brooks (Scott Felts) and Alice Briggs (Tim Fitz); seven grandchildren: T.J., Stephen, Matthew, Ryan, Ashley, Evan and Jarrett; four great grandchildren: Gage, Lilly, Dianna and Beckett; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by a brother, Charles Sawyer, and sisters Lucille Thurow, Dorothy Patenaude, and Katherine Ball.

The visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 6th in the chapel of Quinn Shalz Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, Oct 7th at the funeral home, followed by interment in Beaches Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care in Jacksonville Florida.
