Betty Lee Pinto

Betty Pinto, aged 98, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, in Orange Park, Florida. Born on December 21, 1927, in Norfolk, Virginia, Betty lived a long and vibrant life filled with remarkable experiences and cherished memories.

Throughout her life, Betty embraced a variety of careers that showcased her versatility and dedication. She worked with the Department of Motor Vehicles, served as a dispatcher for the Baltimore Police Department, and drove a school bus. Among her many accomplishments, she also owned and managed a tavern in Baltimore alongside her beloved husband, Al Pinto. Together, they created a welcoming space that became a cornerstone for their community.

Betty was known for her spirited personality and unwavering determination. She was outspoken and stood her ground but was equally generous and willing to help anyone in need. Her family fondly remembers her "talking with her eyebrows," an unmistakable sign of her passion or seriousness during conversations. Betty had a love for storytelling and often shared captivating tales from her nearly century-long journey through life. Whether recounting fascinating employment stories or reflecting on personal experiences, she left those around her inspired by her resilience and wit.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Betty found joy in simple pleasures. She loved sitting on the front porch with her son Michael, watching wildlife or delighting in the laughter of children playing nearby during family visits. A devoted fan of black coffee, sweets, Betty Boop, and Elvis Presley’s music, these small joys brought warmth to her days.

Betty’s legacy lives on through the many generations of family she leaves behind. She is survived by her children: Michael Newbern and Tricia Moreau; grandchildren: Michael Newbern Jr., Jason Newbern (Yesenia), Jacob Newbern (Mary), Jared Newbern (Jordan), Jessica Newbern, Tammy Newbern, Michele Newbern-Gillis, and William Newbern (LeeAnn), William Caudill (Karen); great-grandchildren: Madison Newbern (Courtney), Michael Newbern, Braelynn Newbern, Kallie Newbern, Kinsley Newbern, Averitt Newbern, Rachele Moraniec, CJ Moraniec, Seth Miller, Sarah Gillis, Joshua Gillis; and great-great-grandchildren: Camden, Courtlynn, Everett, Easton, Layla, Layton, Raegan, Lincoln, Nolan, and Sutton. She also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews as well as family, extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish their memories of her.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Al Pinto; son William Newbern; daughter-in-law Barbara Newbern-Snider; great-great-grandson Ford; three sisters & one brother; along with her loving parents (John & Bettie).

Betty’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her strength of character and zest for life remain an enduring inspiration to those she touched. May the memories of Betty bring comfort to all who mourn her passing while celebrating the extraordinary life she lived.
