Betty Jean Bennett, 89, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on November 15, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Spartanburg, SC, on June 27, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Harland York and Esther Barber York.
Betty was the widow of the late Gerald L. Bennett. She previously worked at Farmbest Dairies and their family-owned Bennett’s Ice Company. She was a member of the Jacksonville Beach Drove of Does and a member of the Isle of Faith United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters and one son, Patty Hibble (David), Kay Hawkins (Wayne), Donna Bennett (Colleen), Gerald S. Bennett (Lori); five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Our hearts are broken but we find peace knowing she is now with Jesus and all of her family members that went before her, especially our dad.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, FL. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz on Saturday, November 20, 2021, conducted by Pastor Will Clark. Immediately following the service, she will be laid to rest beside our dad in Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Isle of Faith United Methodist Church Missions Fund, 1821 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, FL 32224.
