Bernard (Bernie) Mason Funk, 71, passed away on March 26, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Bernie was born in Silver Spring, Maryland and graduated in 1972 from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. He joined the Naval Air Reserves in 1967. He enjoyed flying and restoring antique planes. He owned and restored a 1930’s silver Cessna, which was featured in the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association magazine. Bernie moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2002. He was in charge of sales at J&J Imports of Jacksonville where he worked for the last 14 years.
He is survived by his mother Ruby Wynosky, sisters Bonnie Keane and Jeannie Borger, brother Fred Funk and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
