Barbara June Morrison (nee Nickelson)—known to family and friends as Bobbi, 90, passed away on March 29, 2026. Born January 14, 1936, she grew up on a farm in rural Southeast Missouri, where she developed the warmth, resilience, and strong work ethic that shaped her life.
Barbara’s working life took her to positions across Missouri and New Jersey. For many years she served as a PBX operator and later as a receptionist—roles in which her natural warmth and welcoming manner made her a beloved presence to coworkers and visitors alike. Her numerous leadership roles in several women’s organizations in Princeton, New Jersey, is where she formed many enduring friendships that she cherished. In 1999 she and her husband, Charles “Chuck” Morrison, moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where they enjoyed retirement and close family time.
Barbara was outgoing and warm, with a charming personality and hearty laugh that made people feel at ease. She loved family gatherings and took great joy in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her practical kindness, steady presence, and ready smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her generous spirit, and the simple, joyful way she lived her life.
Bobbi is survived by her spouse of 51 years, Chuck Morrison; her four children, Debra Lumley (Thomas), Michael Saylor (Karen), Steven Saylor, and Sandra Applegate (James); her ten grandchildren, Jennifer Saylor, Sean Saylor, Christopher Lumley (Bridget), Cody Saylor, Brian Lumley, Nicholas Saylor, Jake Cook (Emily), Victoria Cook, Ryan Applegate (Amy), and Eric Applegate (Erica); her three great grandchildren, Isabell Lumley, Charles Lumley, and Skyler Applegate: nephew, Mark Nickelson (Rosalyn); two favorite nieces, Kathleen House (Larry) and Tammy Dearie (Kurt); and she was preceded in death by her son, John Stanley Saylor and grandsons, Michael Lumley, and Scott Applegate.
A Memorial Gathering for friends and family will be 6:00 PM-7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, with a Private Family Service to follow at 7:00 PM-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
Bobbi’s warmth, charm, and hearty laughter brightened every room.
She taught us how to love simply and well.
