Annamae Young

January 22, 1932 — July 23, 2020

Annamae Miekley Young, “Amy”, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the evening of July 23, 2020. Amy was born on January 22, 1932, in Lester, PA. She spent her childhood there and met her future husband, Jack, in high school. Amy and Jack later married and had their three children in Ridley Park, PA. After 14 years there, the Young family moved to St. Petersburg, FL. Amy was a secretary for various industries, a school office, a police department, and state government agencies. She was skilled in shorthand, taking dictation, and typing. Her ever present smile and excellent organization skills made her an asset to all of her employers. Amy was a devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and kept her family and friends warm with her beautiful handmade afghans and slippers. After moving to several locations in Florida, Amy and Jack moved to England and then Scotland for several years. While living there, they enjoyed traveling through Europe and taking adventurous treks down the River Shannon in Ireland. Amy and Jack retired in Crystal River, FL. While living in Crystal River, Jack went to join his Lord and Savior. He and Amy had been married for 50 years. Amy moved to Land O’ Lakes, FL after Jack’s passing and then she moved to Vicar’s Landing in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Amy will be greatly missed by her two daughters Leslie Dale (the late Fred Dale) and Mary Hedgecock (Doyle Hedgecock), and her son, Mark Young (Regi). Amy also had five grandsons, a great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way. She also leaves behind her twin sister, Ethelmae Oxner, and many nieces and nephews. Amy’s brother, Ernie Miekley, passed away during Amy’s time at Vicar’s Landing. Amy thoroughly enjoyed a life well lived, and she brought love, warmth, and laughter to her family and friends.

Donations may be made in Amy’s honor to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
