LCDR William A. Stennett, USN, Ret, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2018 in Atlantic Beach, FL. Bill was born to William and Ella Stennett in Seattle, WA on October 14, 1930, and grew up on the shore of Lake Washington in Bellevue. After attending Washington State University, he was employed by Boeing before joining the United States Navy. While serving as a naval aviator, he met and married Margaret A. McHugh in Providence, RI in 1956.
LCDR Stennett was a distinguished helicopter pilot and flight instructor, and awarded three Bronze stars for his Vietnam service. He retired at Naval Station Mayport in 1975. He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret; sons, Jeffrey, James, Stephen (Donna), and Matthew; grandchildren Brett, Alana, Olivia, Hiroki, and Erica; and sister Shirley Johnson (Les) of Mount Vernon, WA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home of Jacksonville Beach, FL. (904) 249-1100.
