Muriel J. Lordan passed away quietly in her sleep at the age of 94, on September 21, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born in 1923 in Brooklyn, New York.

After graduating from high school, Muriel joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, known today as MetLife. For the next forty years, she dedicated her professional career to MetLife. Muriel steadily advanced in her work life by studying and becoming an expert in her field, ultimately rising to a leadership position in the company.

She moved from New York City to South Florida to be closer to her family. In 1992, she lost her home in Hurricane Andrew and relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where once again, she was near family. She spent the remainder of her life fully engaged with those she loved and enjoyed most—her family members and many friends.

Muriel was a kind, generous, and truly wonderful human being, full of interesting and humorous stories. Until the day she died, she had a sharp mind, inexhaustible energy and a real zest for life. She lived her life role modeling the virtues of “the greatest generation” and always imbued those she loved with her wisdom.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Lordan; her parents, Charles and Mabel Callahan; her brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Catherine Callahan; her aunt, Gladys Atkinson; her nephews, Jeff Callahan and Martin Mickler. She is survived by her three nieces, Lynn Mickler, Deborah Mather Middlebrook (John Middlebrook) and Jeanette Crook; her great nieces and great nephews, Jennifer Mickler, Catherine Callahan (Jon Lundy), Andrew Mather and Richard Mather.
