Jack Earl PikeMarch 1, 1938 ~ July 10, 2017 (age 79)
Jack Earl Pike, 79, passed away on July 10, 2017. He was born in Shawnee, OK on March 1, 1938 but grew up in Jacksonville Beach and graduated from Fletcher Senior High School in 1956.
Jack served our country in the US Army for four years. He enjoyed life, music, loved to sing, along with traveling, fishing, hunting and having oyster cookouts with family and friends. Children were also very important to him. He would often perform magic tricks for young ones, making them laugh and wanting more.
Jack was very active in his community. He was a member of the ‘Voice of the Beaches’ CB radio club, his handle being “Cabbage Man”, was a Fletcher reunion committee member and ‘ran the chains’ for their field home games for 30 years. He was a Graphic Artist at Reynolds, Smith & Hills Architects, Engineers & Planners and Security Officer for First Coast Securities.
Jack was a very Christian man, dedicating over 50 years as a member of First Christian Church of the Beaches where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was a choir member, Sunday Schoolteacher, involved in Bible Studies, Men’s Retreats, Lay Witness Missions, and Discovery Group Meetings.
His loving wife, Janace, predeceased him along with his parents, Roy and Madge Pike and brother, Richard. Jack is survived by his children, Daniel, Deanna and Dwayne Pike; his wife’s two children, Gina and Jacob Mickler; sister, Patricia Hernandez; and brother, Doug Pike.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, July 14, 2017 in Quinn-Shalz Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 11 am Saturday, July 15, 2017 at First Christian Church of the Beaches. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
